Flexibility is maximum possible range of motion about a joint without adversely affecting strength.

You can apply Functional Range of Motion in real life or sporting situations. FRoM is starkly different than just lying on the ground and stretching muscles to full length. FRoM is part of an integrated body action that requires –

  • balance,
  • strength of muscles and connective tissue

Such training allows for easier and deeper movements while building strength and stability. “Strengthen what you stretch, and stretch after you strengthen!”

Conducted by GĀYO FITNESS ACADEMY, this short, specialist course – Module 2.03 – is part of the Mumbai University Certificate Course for Personal Fitness Trainers (CCPFT).

FRoM is also a module in the following vocation course:

  • Certificate Course in Strength & Sports Conditioning (CCSSC), conducted jointly with BPCA’s College of Physical Education, Mumbai

FRoM is currently approved by International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) – USA for 07 CEUs.

It is also a popular stand-alone course. It can also be attended without enrolling to the above listed vocation courses.

Student Eligibility

Student –

  • Must have passed 10 years of School Education
  • Must be physically and medically fit
  • Must have passion for fitness / sport
  • Physically Challenged persons can apply if they have exposure to fitness / sport
  • BEFORE FINAL EXAMINATION, must attend and be certified in First Aid & CPR with AED
  • Course delivery is bilingual, however students ought to have working knowledge of English

Knowledge Delivery

Currently FRoM is BEING OFFERED AS BLENDED COURSE – that is, it comprises:

  1. Online WEBINARS (face-to-face) supported with training videos
  2. GUIDED home study / practice
  3. Home ASSIGNMENTS
  4. IN-PERSON (face-to-face) education & training

Fee

If you are enrolling to only FRoM course, fee is ₹3,000* including –

  • Gayo certificate,
  • eBOOK and
  • nearly 250 stretching videos.

*FEE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE. GST AS APPLICABLE. CHECK FEE PRIOR TO ENROLMENT.

Note: FRoM fee is included in the CCPFT and CCSSC fees. These students do not pay additionally for FRoM.

Examination

Course End Assessment

  • Theory: 25 MCQs that will cover the Science of Strength Training: Maximum marks: 50
  • Practical Teaching: Maximum marks: 50

Student has to teach one exercise each any five of the following joints –

  • Ankle
  • Knee
  • Hip
  • Shoulder
  • Elbow
  • Wrist

Total number of Learning hours

Course duration: Total 20 hours

  • Online face-to-face: 02 hours

FROM – Course Syllabus
Functional means purposeful – or, to meet the purpose of daily life and sports related movements that cannot be developed in through typical “gymming”. Range of Motion is flexibility about a given joint. Functional Range of Motion (FRoM) Training offers the following benefits – - Increases flexibility - Increases range of motion - Improves performance in physical activities - Increases blood flow to muscles - Improves body posture - Helps to heal and prevent back pain - Reduces stress relief - Calms the mind FRoM is not sport specific but general goals oriented. It can be done by persons of all ages above the age of 6 and can be used as part of foundation training in sports and for medical rehab. Fitness professionals must master different formats of exercise including bodyweight training like FRoM. There are 16 types of training modalities and body weight training is the second of them. FRoM is one of the many exercise formats in the category of body weight training.

You do not have to pay this fee if you are enrolled to any of the full courses AND paid the fees for – - University of Mumbai Certificate Course for Personal Fitness Trainers (CCPFT) syllabus. - Certificate Course in Strength & Sports Conditioning (CCSSC), conducted jointly with BPCA’s College of Physical Education, Mumbai *FEE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE. This short course is the most complete course in Functional Training.
