The Specialist in Advanced Weight Training (AWT) is a blended learning clinic approved for 16 CPD points by REPS UAE.

Designed for fitness professionals, personal trainers, strength coaches, and serious fitness enthusiasts, this programme provides an in-depth understanding of the science and application of resistance training.

There are 16 major fitness goals that clients may pursue, ranging from fat loss and muscle development to strength, power, athletic performance, functional fitness, and healthy ageing. Weight training is the one exercise modality that can contribute to the achievement of all these goals when applied correctly.
Despite its importance, many fitness professionals possess only a basic understanding of weight training, often limited to a small number of bodybuilding exercises. In reality, weight training encompasses hundreds of exercises, training methods, and programming strategies that can be adapted for men, women, older adults, athletes, and, where appropriate, children above the age of six.
Effective weight training requires a thorough understanding of exercise science, including anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, motor learning, and programme design. Equally important is the ability to apply this science with skill, creativity, and professional judgement.
The AWT clinic is designed to help participants learn how to prescribe, coach, and progress weight training programmes according to the unique needs, abilities, and goals of each individual.
Participants will also gain exposure to a variety of training systems, philosophies, and advanced coaching methods used in strength development, hypertrophy, athletic conditioning, and functional fitness.
Weight training is the foundation of modern fitness training and remains the most widely used and versatile of the eight major categories of exercise modalities. It can be performed indoors or outdoors, with free weights, machines, resistance bands, body weight, and a variety of other training tools.
This specialist clinic forms an integral component of the Academy’s professional education pathways, including:
Certificate Course for Personal Fitness Trainers
Certificate Course in Fitness Centre Management
Certificate Course in Strength & Sports Conditioning
Certificate Course in Bodybuilding Coaching
Certificate Course in Medical Exercise
Whether working with fitness enthusiasts, athletes, children, older adults, or special populations, fitness professionals who master weight training possess one of the most valuable and versatile tools available for improving health, fitness, performance, and quality of life.
Why Personal Trainers Must Master Weight Training
Weight training is one of the most versatile and effective exercise modalities available to fitness professionals. Regardless of whether the client is a strength athlete, a fitness enthusiast, a child, a senior citizen, or an individual living with a non-communicable disease (NCD), weight training can be adapted to meet specific needs and goals.
Personal trainers should be proficient in weight training because:
Weight training improves muscular strength, the foundation of physical performance and functional independence.
It supports all major fitness goals, including fat loss, muscle gain, health improvement, sports performance, and healthy ageing.
Properly prescribed resistance training enhances bone density and helps reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
It improves posture, movement efficiency, balance, coordination, and joint stability.
Weight training is highly adaptable and can be modified for children aged 6 years and above, adults, and older adults.
It plays an important role in the prevention and management of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and other NCDs.
Resistance training helps preserve lean muscle mass during weight loss and ageing.
It improves functional capacity, enabling clients to perform daily activities more effectively and safely.
It contributes to injury prevention, rehabilitation support, and long-term musculoskeletal health when appropriately programmed.
Weight training can be delivered using free weights, machines, resistance bands, body weight, and functional training tools in almost any environment.
For these reasons, weight training remains the cornerstone of modern fitness programming and a core competency for every fitness professional.
