CCMAT-Learning-Outcomes

Pilates Matwork is the foundation of the entire Pilates exercise system. It teaches participants the essential principles of Pilates and develops the instructional skills required before progressing to the Reformer and other apparatus. It is on the mat that teachers learn to observe movement clearly and master precise verbal, visual and tactile teaching cues.
On successful completion of the program, participants will be able to:
Understand and apply the fundamental principles of Pilates, including concentration, control, centring, precision, breathing and fluidity of movement.
Demonstrate and teach Pilates Mat exercises with correct technique, alignment, control and appropriate progression.
Master clear teaching cues that help clients understand movement, activate the correct muscles and perform exercises safely and effectively.
Understand core engagement and design exercise sessions that improve core strength, spinal stability, posture and movement efficiency.
Analyse movement, identify common errors and provide appropriate feedback and corrections.
Structure Pilates Mat sessions with suitable warm-ups, exercise sequences, transitions, modifications and cool-downs.
Adapt exercises for beginners, older adults, special populations and clients with injuries, physical limitations or restricted mobility, within the teacher’s professional scope of practice.
Incorporate Pilates-based functional movements into personal training, dance, yoga, sports conditioning, physiotherapy and physical education programs.
Use breathing, concentration and controlled movement to promote relaxation, stress management and overall wellbeing.
Help clients develop greater body awareness, coordination, balance, flexibility, muscular endurance and confidence in movement.
The program enables Personal Trainers, Dance and Yoga Teachers, Sports Physiotherapists, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, Physical Education Teachers and other movement professionals to expand their professional skill-sets. Graduates can use Pilates Matwork either as a stand-alone teaching service or as a valuable supplement to their existing practice—helping them serve a wider range of clients, enhance professional value and create additional opportunities for clientele and income.
