AWT-Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Specialist in Advanced Weight Training (AWT) Clinic, participants should be able to:

Assess movement quality, identify biomechanical limitations, and recognize factors that may affect exercise performance and safety.
Demonstrate and teach advanced weight training exercises using correct technique, effective coaching methods, and appropriate safety procedures.
Apply the principles of functional anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics, and muscle mechanics to optimise exercise selection and execution.
Design and implement evidence-based programmes for strength development, muscular hypertrophy, power, and strength endurance.
Select and apply advanced loading strategies and training methods appropriate to the individual's goals, abilities, and training status.
Understand and apply a variety of weight training systems and philosophies, including traditional, strength-focused, hypertrophy-focused, and performance-oriented approaches.
Monitor and manage fatigue, recovery, adaptation, and progression to maximise training outcomes while reducing the risk of overtraining and injury.
Use effective coaching cues, exercise regressions, progressions, and corrective strategies to enhance client performance and learning.
Apply resistance training principles to improve both health-related and skill-related components of physical fitness.
Design programmes that address strength, muscular endurance, body composition, mobility, balance, coordination, speed, agility, and power.
Integrate weight training into programmes for a wide range of populations, including fitness enthusiasts, athletes, older adults, and individuals with non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
Combine weight training with plyometric training methods to improve explosive strength, power development, and athletic performance.
Develop structured training plans that support both health enhancement and sports performance objectives.
Select and sequence exercises based on movement patterns, force production requirements, and client-specific goals.
Apply strength training principles to help clients achieve outcomes in health, fitness, rehabilitation support, sports conditioning, and athletic performance.
Demonstrate professional competence in planning, delivering, supervising, and evaluating resistance training sessions in a safe and effective manner.
