CEUs
– NSCA CEUs: 1.8 CEUs in Category “A” @ ₹2,000 extra.

The program aims to introduce fitness professionals, physiotherapists and physical education teachers to the triad that comprises EXERCISE as MEDICINE:

1) Conduct & analyze assessments including ECG, Electronic Strength Test, etc.

2) Prescribe Exercise in right dosage

3) Deliver correct Exercise instruction – not just “train” clients but prevent onset of imminent injuries

If one of above is absent or inaccurate, “training” Special Populations may be incomplete at best or risky at the worst.

Detection, screening and treatment of NCDs, as well as palliative care, are key components of the response to NCDs.

Exercise as a medicine thus offers cost-effective interventions.

Hosted by Gayo Fitness Academy, it will be the first such program in Bengaluru and South India.

The presenter, Dr Muhammad Lee of The Asia College of Exercise Medicine (ACEM), Kuala Lumpur is the pioneer of using Exercise as the first line of intervention against NCDs. See FACULTY below.

ACEM is fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA), Government of Malaysia.

To the June 2024 EM course which was of 5 days, NSCA granted 2.0 CEUs (or 20 hours of contact training) in Category “A”.

The current EM course is split into 2 parts: Clinic 1 is of 3 days; the NSCA has approved it for 1.8 CEUs in Category “A”.

We are confident of receiving NSCA CEUs for the 2-days Clinic 2 in November.

The 5-days program is fully physical (offline). For the convenience of the students, it is split into TWO parts 1 and 2.

It will cover –

  1. The cardiovascular system – students will learn the clinical physiology of a weak, normal and a strong heart.
  2. a) basic interpretation of ECG,
  3. b) prescription of exercise to rehabilitate a weak heart
  4. c) how to improve a normal heart
  5. d) Preparing a strong heart for higher physical activities
  6. The musculoskeletal system will cover muscle and physiology.

Section A

⬧ Understand Strength Physiology

⬧ Explore the techniques of prescription of resistance exercises to increase muscles.

⬧ Understand how resistance exercises are used to treat NCDs and cancer.

⬧ Understand the concept of “dosage” of resistance training for major muscle groups.

Section B – practical training

⬧ Conduct & analyze assessments including ECG, Electronic Strength Test, etc.

⬧ Prescribe Exercise in right dosage

⬧ Deliver correct Exercise instruction – not just “train” clients but prevent onset of imminent injuries

By the end of the program, the attendees ought to be able to –

✓ ASSESS + PRESCRIBE + TRAIN Special Populations responsibly, safely
