June 14-18 (9 am to 5 pm)

Do you know non-communicable diseases (NCDs), globally, kill 41 million people each year, equivalent to 74% of all deaths? Yearly, 17 million people die from an NCD before age 70; 86% of these premature deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries like India.

Our Exercise Medicine course will help you deliver physical activity in the right dosage for preventing and / or minimizing the risks of death due to non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Cardiovascular diseases account for most NCD deaths – 17.9 million people annually, followed by cancers (9.3 million), chronic respiratory diseases (4.1 million), and diabetes (2.0 million including kidney disease deaths caused by diabetes).

Detection, screening and treatment of NCDs, as well as palliative care, are key components of the response to NCDs.

Physical inactivity is said to be the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality accounting for roughly 3.2 million deaths annually. As per WHO, one in four adults is not active enough globally

Exercise as a medicine thus offers cost-effective interventions.

Hosted by Gayo Fitness Academy, it will be the first such program in Bengaluru and South India.

The presenter, Dr Muhammad Lee of The Asia College of Exercise Medicine (ACEM), Kuala Lumpur is the pioneer of using Exercise as the first line of intervention against NCDs.
